Imam Al-Suyuti was asked about an issue of divorce which involved a person being in numerous places at once and the possibility of this. He wrote the aforementioned epistle as a reply which he begins by saying: "I say: Many great Imams have endorsed the possibility of that [multiple presence in one time] including: Al-Allama 'Ala Al-Din Al-Qunawi commentator of Al-Hawi, Shaykh Taj Al-Din Al-Subki, Karim Al-Din Amili Shaykh of Al-Khanqa Al-Salahiyya, Safi Al-Din ibn Abi Al-Mansur, Abd Al-Ghaffar ibn Naw Al-Qawsi author of Al-Waheed, Al-'Afif Al-Yafi'i, Shaykh Taj Al-Din ibn 'Ata Illah, Al-Siraj ibn Al-Mulaqqin, Al-Burhan Al-Abnasi..." He then forwards three explanations as to how this multiple presence happens before listing what the Imams have said regarding this issue. His illogical concerns can be answered logically. So how does the Angel of Death take numerous lives simultaneously? With modern technology (T.V.) one can appear in multiple places (T.V.) (Taken from Madani Mudhakara of Shaykh Ilyas Al-Qadiri) so does that mean T.V is greater in rank than Ibn Uthaymeen who could not be in numerous places in one time? What about the Jinn? Any way... Imam Jalal Al-Din Al-Suyuti has an epistle discussing this entitled المنجلي في تطور الولي which is in his Al-Hawi. The Imam lists many towering figures of Islam who not only considered this multiple presence possible but they also attributed this miracle to the awliya.
