In respect of condition 5- what about socks that would contain an elastic type mechanism (whatever normal socks do, basically) to keep the socks held against the ankles and therefore slipping. Does this count as socks which are being tied and therefore would not be acceptable to use?
What would be the Hanafi ruling on socks that are not leather, but essentially function as leather? This for example - link; link? On amazon or walmart websites, you can find a lot of non-leather waterproof socks for diving, trekking, climbing etc.
I'm not sure which articles you're talking about. This is certainly not a political article. I'm more or less libertarian, but you're a socialist you'd probably think I was an anarchist! I usually agree with the left on the personal issues, but agree with the right on economic issues. But I generally approach each issue individually, using my own methodology.
