Anything's possible, but that's unlikely. More chances of him heading to Iran or Russia. Some channels also saying he left for Russia in a cargo plane and the plane crashed.

CNN has published an interview with a militant islamist terrorist who is on the US wanted list and the head of the Hayat Tahrir-al-Sham (HTS) jihadist group – to discuss, among other things, his “transformation” from Al-Qaeda leader to “moderate rebel.”


He had previously been a leader of al-Qaeda and the ISIS-affiliated Al-Nusra Front, all of which have been accused of multiple war crimes, including massacring hundreds of civilians and kidnappings. In 2013, the US listed al-Julani as a “specially designated global terrorist” and later announced a $10 million bounty on him.

The leader of the Lebanon-based Hezbollah militant group, Naim Qassem, has also claimed that the recent aggression in Syria has been “sponsored by America and Israel,” arguing that Washington was trying to “create chaos in Syria.”

He vowed that his group would help the Syrian government fight the HTS jihadists and called on other Arab countries to support Damascus in the battle.

During the interview, al-Julani dismissed the label as “primarily political” and “wrong” and urged people to judge “not by words but by actions.” He claimed that “everyone in life goes through experiences and phases” insisting that he is now a changed man fighting for what he describes as the liberation of Syria.


Previously, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow has seen information suggesting that the UK, the US and Israel might be implicated in supporting HTS amid its current offensive in Syria, in order to draw attention away from the Gaza conflict.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also announced that Tehran would support the Syrian government in repelling the recent jihadist offensive, which he has described as an “American-Zionist” plot.

Syria has been engulfed in a protracted war since 2011 when various anti-government groups sought to topple the Assad government. Jihadist forces, particularly those receiving military assistance from abroad, have emerged as dominant players among the opposition and have since been labeled by the US and other Western nations as “moderate rebels.”

Russia has reports that the US and the UK might be implicated in supporting the al-Qaeda-affiliated militants currently on the offensive in Syria, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

Hayat Tahrir-al-Sham (HTS) terrorist group, previously known as Jabhat al-Nusra, launched a surprise attack from Idlib last week and has since taken Aleppo and Hama. US journalist Tucker Carlson asked Lavrov who was supporting the terrorists in Syria, during the interview that aired on Thursday.

”Well, we have some information,” Lavrov said. “The information which is being floated and it’s in the public domain, mentions, among others, the Americans, the Brits. Some people say that Israel is interested in making this situation aggravated so that Gaza is not under very close scrutiny.”

“It’s a complicated game. Many actors are involved,” the Russian diplomat added.

Lavrov explained to Carlson that Russia, Iran, and Türkiye brokered a ceasefire in Syria in 2017 and again in 2020, calling this Astana Format “a useful combination of players.”

Iran, in no way, shape, or form, views Palestine from an eschatological perspective, nor does it hold genuine sympathy for Sunnis as it claims. Perhaps some factions within Shia communities or Iranian militias harbor such sentiments, but as a whole, Iran appears to act just enough for the Ummah to perceive it as a ray of hope, thereby garnering sympathy from the broader Muslim world. All their moves post Oct 7 seem aligned with their geopolitical interests.
Credit where it's due, they have supported Hamas through their proxies, such as the Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Allahu a'lam about their true intentions.

I recall a speech by Khomeini at Makkah Masjid in Hyderabad 2018, where he openly called for Muslim unity during a Friday sermon. But unity for what? His vision seemed to center on rallying the Muslim world against Western hegemony. A goal that, while beneficial to Iran, also resonates with the broader Muslim world. However, trusting these taqiyyabas is not something history teaches us.

 

At times I too feel that the rawafid are merely teasing Muslim sympathies and feelings. If they have the capabilities as they have shown, what's preventing them to go all out against the yahoodi state? Why let the ethnic cleansing and genocide continue? Bro, really only Allah knows best the reality of the current state of smoke and mirrors we're all facing.

There are valid concerns on both sides of the arguments.

However, we need to balance symptomatic treatment of a situation with curative treatment at the root cause level.

I know of people who suffered cancer and at every stage, from diagnosis until the marhoom's death, the doctors had to balance between the curative chemo and it's harsh effects vs managing symptoms only and risking letting the cancer progress further. In the final stage, they had to shut down the chemo to grant the patient respite and only manage the symptoms. If they continued with chemo, they would've killed the patient probably 3 months sooner than the impending death by symptoms management and letting the cancer spread. There was no right answer for anyone, not the doctor, not the patient's family.

If you know of any friends and family who have diabetes and then run into any other medical issues, you'll know that the first thing the docs address is bringing the blood sugar under control (if not already so), before they can address the other issue at hand, especially if some procedure is required. Complications are a real thing.

Similar things we are facing as an ummah right now.

One can argue that the Rawafidhs are considerably worse than the Wahabis (not Kharijis). In the last 200 years, Wahabis have undoubtedly caused significant fitna and killed many Muslims, both Sunni and Shia. However, historically, haven't the Rawafidhs always fought against Sunnis and even slaughtered them? Be it Fatimids against the Abbasids, the Nizari Ismailis against the Mamluks, and the Safavids against the Ottomans.

 

I am with @AbdalQadir and @Ashari Matuiridi on this one. These 'rebels' are no different to those that bomb shrines in Pakistan, and cause discord amongst Muslims.
