    Moulana Moiz Uddin Turkey

Brief biography of Hazrat Miozuddin Turkey Kohir, Hyderabad , India.

Moulana Moizuddin’s real name is Syed Mohammed but he was become famous with the name of Moizuddin Turkey. He was great scholar and famous Sufi saint of his time. It is well known fact that he was king of Turkistan and he had left Turkistan kingdom in the search of right path towards Allah and in his search in this matter he had reached Delhi and became the disciple of Hazrat Khaja Nizamuddin Auliya. Due to his hard endeavors and great efforts of worship he had become one of the special disciple of the Sheikh and the sheikh had taken care and spiritual progress for him and for this reason he had attained greater heights of mastery in the Sufism and Mystical stages of Islam for the progress and preaching of Islam in the foreign lands. His name was recorded as Ghulam Masur in the book of disciples of Khaja Nizamuddin Auliya. For the period of many years he was under the guidance and spiritual training of Niazamuddin Auliya and he was benefitted greatly during his stay in Delhi in the holy company of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya.

As per order of his sheikh he was proceeded towards Deccan (South of India ) to the area which is near to Hyderabad for the propagation of Islam when he was in his older age. During his stay in Delhi he had become the close friend of Tajuddin Najfi. So when Moizuddin Turkey had proceeded towards Deccan (South of India) Tajuddin Najfi was also accompanied with him there along with Shabuddin Sarherwardi with his many disciples and upon reaching there they had began propagation of Islam successfully and become very famous there due to their great efforts and preaching the religion of Islam in the areas of Deccan (South of India ) .

At that time the name of Kohir was known as Ankharapatanam and which was ruled by Raja Pratap and his capital was Warangal. The Raja had constructed underground tunnel from Warangal to Kohir . The king was ruling Kohir under the kingdom of Hasan Gangu Bahmani of Bider .When Raja Pratap was revolted against the Bider kingdom then Sultan Hasan Gangu marched towards Kohir to fight against him wih large army men but he was unable to defeat Raja Pratap in the war so the sultan was very much worried in this matter.

When he heard about Moizuddin Turkey and Tajuddin Najfi’s names and fame for spiritual heights in Sufism and mystical progress so he had approached them at their place and requested them for their prayers for the success in the war against the Raja Pratap of Warangal kingdom . They have accepted his request and proceeded to Bider along with him .

When Sultan Hasan of Bider proceed along with his military men for the campaign against Raja Pratap of Warangal so these great Sufi masters along with Shabuddin Saherwardi were also accompanied with the military men of the sultan . The army of Sultan proceeded towards Kohir via Shaikhupura and at that time Shaikpura was the border post of Raja Pratap’s kingdom and at that place Raja was there with his 40,000 strong army men and there was fierce war took place in which Sheikh Shehabuddin Saharwardi and Tajuddin Najafi were killed fighting bravely for the cause of Islam and its propagation . Due to the kind prayers of Moizuddin Turkey and Tajuddin Najfi Sultan Hasan Gangu Bahamani was successful in the great war against the Raja Pratap of Warangal kingdom .
Upon the death of Tajuddin Najfi in the war Moizuddin Turkey had called his son from Najaf and upon the arrival of son of the Tajuddin Najfi from Najaf (Iran) the Sultan had granted him the title of “ Ainul Muluk” and also awarded him length of land equal to 342 bed spreads with his royal decree with his seal and signature. But he did not accepted anything from the above royal grants as he was great Sufi master who does not look at anything except the Allah’s likeness and pleasure . He was uncle and teacher as well follower of same Sufi sect of Quaderia and Chisti of Hazrat Khaja Bande Nawaz of Gulberga Sharif. The name of Kohir was Ankharapatan and there was one mountain of diamonds at that place and for this reason Moizuddin named it Kohe Hera (The mountain of diamonds ) and due too much usage of this place name it had changed as Kohir instead of Kohe Hera (The mountain of diamonds). No information about his marriage , his sons and daughters are available in the records of history and information so it is well know that he had no successors and for this reason there were no trustees from his family members for the holy shrine at Kohir Sharif and so from the above information it is also clear that he was died as single without marriage.

In the history records his date of his death is not available and it is well known that he left the world on the 15th Jamil Akhir but the year is not available. The annual Urs (death anniversary ) ceremony celebrated will be every year on 15th Jamadil Akhir on the large scale basis with many good arrangements as there will large number of attendance of devotees from many corners of Deccan (Hyderabad) and other neighboring states of Karnataka and Mahrastra as well as some other areas of India.

His shrine is situated in the open ground near the Kohir city. At the time of annual Urs (death anniversary) ceremony large number of visitors usually visit his holy shrine from all the communities .
There is one grave near his holy shrine which is said to be of his teacher and on the left side of his holy shrine there are many graves which are said to be the graves of his followers and servants and from their lineage the trustees are coming and who are doing their best services at the holy shrine for the benefits of the visitors round the clock .

May Allah increase his status in both worlds and continue his mission of propagation of Islam in the areas of Deccan for which sheikh Moizuddin Turkey left his kingdom and his family and friends in the country of his birth as in other words for the sake of Islam he left everything except Allah and his great messenger prophet Mohammed ( Peace be upon him) . May Allah bring grand success for the mission of Islam in the areas of Deccan due to great of efforts of Moulana Mouizuddin Turkey , Tajuddin Najfi and Shabuddin Saharwardi (Amin) .

His early education and training was completed under the direct supervision of his father at his house as their house was belongs to great knowledge and wisdom and by the age of 12 years he was completed his education and he was perfect in many knowledges. His mother was also a perfect lady in many knowledges so when she will use to observe any miracle from any of the her sons then she used to say them baby take rest and then at that time the boy will suddenly die at once and in this way many of her sons were died. Once he was standing in the house building and at that time some ducks and gooses were running towards him so he shook his leg and due to this reason the duck died at once there. The housemaid had reported this miracle to Hazrat Mashooq Rabbani R.A. mother’s and she had given her instructions that she should not disclose this matter to other persons and she had began her preparations to separate him from his father for the above reason. He had visited holy Makkah and from there he had proceed to holy Madina and had stayed there for a period of two years.

Permission to leave towards Deccan (South of India)
When he had reached holy Madina and there he was awarded the Qitab (title) of Mashooq Rabbani (The lover of Allah ) due to the kindness and nobility of holy noble prophet of Allah and he was asked to leave for Deccan (South of India ) for the propagation of Islam there. In the year 916 A.H. or 917 A.H. he had arrived in Warangal along with many of disciples and darwesh (mystic) persons during the period of king Quli Qutub Shah who was the ruler of Golconda dynasty. Stay at Qazipura village
After the above stay he was proceeded for his stay in Qaizpura village which is five miles away from Warangal. As per the reference from the book Miskawat Nabiya in which it was quoted reference from the another book Anwar Aqbar that Hazrat Mashooq Rabbani R.A. after his arrival from Baghdad to Deccan (South of India ) and he had began his worship on the mountain in Hanmakonda village . Due to his ill will the Jogi had thrown a big stone on the sheikh but due to the grace of Allah he had stopped the big stone with his finger and his finger impression is still available on the stone and that place is named as Chilla and that stone is also preserved even today. When the visitors used to see that stone will feel a sense great peace and satisfaction in this matter. After this miracle he was get down from the hill and had proceed towards Qazipura village and went towards the tomb of Qazi Ziauddin and had asked his permission to stay there and upon approval of the permission he had stayed there and he had pointed his final resting place by fixing his staff on the ground which is 150 yards away from that place. Qazi Ziauddin had proceed with the armies of Delhi king Mohammed Tughlaq for the expedition of Warangal and was died in the war and for this reason that village is known as Qazipura village but due to several Urus (annual celebration of death anniversaries ) of Hazrat Mashooq Rabbani R.A. the village became very famous as Urus Jagir village.

    Miracles
The author of the book Mishkawat Nibwa had mentioned that Sheikh was a man of miracles and Kashaf (Revelations). He did many miracles and for this reason it is very difficult and tough task to cover all of them.
Regarding the great miracle of Hazrat Mashooq Rabbani. R.A. The Ranga Samudram which is a large water tank located on the western side of the Urus Jagir village and which was presented to the Sheikh by a local ruler when the Shaikh had shown him his great miracle by given life to the dead horse due to grace and kindness of Allah. Some more details of this miracle is mentioned as follows. Once the local ruler had presented him a costly horse for the use of the Sheikh and that horse was slaughtered by the order of the Sheikh to feed the disciples and darwesh (mystic) persons of the shrine who had faced severe starvation at that time . Upon reaching this news the local ruler had become very upset in this matter so he had asked the Sheikh to return back his costly horse and he was insisted and had forced him for this reason so the Sheikh had ordered the darwesh persons to collect the bones of the horse and upon the collection of the bones the Shaikh had looked at them and told Qum Bizin Allah (Rise by the grace of Allah) and then the horse become alive at once due to kind grace and mercy of Allah. Due to his great miracle the local ruler was regretted in this matter and touched the foot of the Sheikh with great respect and honour and granted him the large water tank of Ranga Samudram.

From the two places of old Gadi (small fort) and new Gadi (Small fort) the ceremony of sandal carrying is held at the same time. The visitors of the shrine are provided food and benediction on this occasion in one of the Gadies (small forts) separately.

On every saturday and thursday the visitors in large numbers will visit the shrine and pray Allah for the fulfillment of their desires and wishes for the sake of the Shaikh’s name.

For the management of the old shrine and for the poor feeding and for the other expenses the rulers of Golconda and Asif Jahi kings ( Hyderabad State) had granted some villages to the trustees of the shrine and who are decendent of the sheikh . First of all Sultan Quli Qutub Shah of Golconda dynasty in 1095 A.H had granted Qazipura village to the shrine and the following villages also had been given to the trustees by the rulers of Hyderabad State for the administration and other expense of the shrine.

    2.Alipur village
    3. Chotpally village
