    BarakAllah feekum

May Allah reward you all for your efforts. It's heart warming to see attempts being made about what was mentioned despite initial doubts. Apologies for the tone of my initial comments. May Allah allow us to help preserve the Sunnah.

    wa 'alaykum al salaam

so the idea is to keep this a collaborative effort for the flexibility it brings. I think, a single official account will require much more dedication on part of those who are tasked with maintaining the account. However, it's up to senior mods* to decide.

    Asalam Alaikum my brother

    I hope you are well

Although i am not on twitter/facebook, this is a very good project and may Allah reward all those involved in this project. May i ask, would it not be better if one of the sunniport moderators create twitter account with the name Sunniport or something along them lines and it could be the offcial answer given by sunniport instead of brothers posting whatever answers they choose from here? Allāh knows best

    Request

Mawlana @abu Hasan does have a twitter account (a lot of very beneficial tweets) but he is usually busy with his own research projects etc. sidi @Aqdas is a twitter veteran (so we have at least one confirmed volunteer). I created an account for myself recently, but I am not used to tweeting and it's disused as of now. Finally, I do not know the status of the rest of the mods.

In short, we need volunteers to get this project going. If you are used to hanging around the "town hall", please make an effort to report anti-sunni propaganda. All hands on board are welcome.

    Some important guidelines:
    • At the moment, we intend to limit the scope to religious topics only. That means no politics - just polemics.
    • Please don't just report and disappear. Hang around for the response and post it back.
    • Conversely, don't expect an immediate answer every time. It will vary as per the bandwidth and availability of members capable of answering questions.
    • Whenever possible, do your homework:
      • There is plenty of material easily accessible through the forum search function.
      • Then we have https://ridawi.org - another project from Mawlana @abu Hasan . It has fatawa, translations, refutations, besides a cartload of books and other stuff.
      • Don't forget ridawipress titles. Particularly Preamble to Faith, Truth about a Lie, The Killer Mistake and Minhaji Fata Morgana
      • If other ulama have already responded to some allegation, in their own tweets or lectures, you can link them here for our scouts' convenience. Why re-invent the wheel?
      • Do note, most of the time we will need well referenced answers, please avoid "imho" amap.
    • I suggest a simple numbering scheme to track and refer to tweets across posts:
      • T# (i.e. T1, T2, T3 etc.). Just mark your post with a tweet number anywhere - preferably at the top or bottom, in bold.
      • So one can tell at a glance which tweet is being discussed.
      • Will also help finding tweets quickly.
      • Moreover, it can prove handy if, after a while, we create a compendium/database of allegations that have been refuted.

    Salaam

    Welcome to our new project.

We are starting this thread as a central place for sunni twitteratis to report tweets that require refutation and/or wider dissemination.

Brothers willing to dedicate their precious time fi sabeel Allah, and having access to knowledge, either via books, lectures or direct contact with scholars, can post responses to these, which the reporters can then tweet back where they like.

The thread will serve as a clearing house for combating disinformation and busting myths about sunni beliefs and practices, in particular, but also Islam and Muslims in general.
