Indian Muslims vs Pakistani Muslims

in short, and seriously speaking

1) the Muslim world in general is suffering from a massive, a very seriously massive - leadership deficit, regardless of ethnicity. most people are followers, not leaders.

2) it all boils down to the tafseer of Surah Al-Asr (103)

3) and the hadith that duniya and everything in it is dejected/debased except that which is close to Allah.

i think a world stereotype day needs to be added to the list of internationally marked days like mother's day, father's day etc.

to be fair, it first needs to be qualified if you're talking about Sunnis or shias.

i've got my own two cents to add in various religious and non-religious contexts, some pretty strong and ruthless opinions. will do it when i run into some time. take them with a pinch of salt.

and of course, definition of 'nice' or 'understanding'? some pakistani brothers (religious, of course) consider us indians as too frank and outspoken for their taste. a pakistani brother once told me that he had assumed that we were uncultured ('bad zan ho gaya tha') until he 'realised' that they (indians) were just blunt and in-your face (in ka lahja hi aysa hai).

everyone speaks [ill] and stereotypes people from other communities/ethnicities. for example, pakistanis talk of keralites as scheming, calculating and ruthless businessmen (yeh sare malbari ayse hi hain) and vice versa (pakistani/pathan/punjabi etc.)

being an urdu-speaking muslim, my pakistani friends/colleagues consider me as one of them (even as the berate malibaris and 'indians') and being an indian, our indian friends/acquaintances etc. belittle pakistanis as opportunistic and untrustworthy. egyptians calling syrians as crooks; syrians calling egyptians as back-stabbers. lebanese are salesmen. north-africans are not religious. sudanese are lazy. and even among the same countrymen: saidis in egypt and himsis in syria are simpletons (even stupid).

when i was younger, i would argue - but then, i just found many people - even intelligent and well-read people airing such prejudiced views, that i have stopped bothering about it.

btw, you haven't heard of what they say about iranians...

 

the massive keralite muslim population in the Khaleej are nicer than the massive pakistani labourer population in the Khaleej because the keralites are really very very helpful and understanding than the pakistanis

 

i met an indian muslim labourer from Bareilly district in india. [ working in the Khaleej ]

trust me, by far the nicest labourer i have ever met ! He was so nice, ma sha Allah, that the Pakistani labourers near him were probably ashamed of themselves in their heart but were shy not to admit it outside

he cooked exotic mughali cuisine just in my favour without asking, and it was food out of the world! i think Bareilly Muslims make really good food. He was tall, very respective, smiling, slim, with excellent manners, talk, and gave his best out; confident, contended, outpouring, hard worker

i reciprocated by giving him most of my time

 

yes it is true that the Pakistani Muslims have the privilege of being the majority contributors to masjid building around the country [US and Canada], definitely more than all other Muslims [ indians, bengalis, arabs, turks, africans, south east asians, european, african american added together ]

but, what i have found is ...... [ and i hope to surprise you ]

indian muslims are by far the nicest like the turks. They are extremely nice, generally speaking, even the kashmiris from the indian side. i have found them to live for others and combine both loyalty [ in all regards including their country ] and straightforwardness, though they do not wear their emotions right on their sleeves like simple Punjabis but are very patient and inner-confident AND if i may add SUCCESSFUL, which is Allah's gift to them. They are different group on their own.

i met a family from Kalinjar, near Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. very few Pakistani families compare to them in my opinion. simply the nicest Ghoris, land owning, urdu Lucknowi family i have come across, even though there are many Ghori families in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtumkhawa provinces in Pakistan and among Urdu Speaking Karachiites.

so, whether it is konkani, keralite, madrasi, most hyderabadi, rajasthani, indian kashmiri, UP, Bihari, indian bengali or most of indian gujaratis, they are very very nice people
