I don't know the price differential in UK, but when I last inquired in India the 9 cell battery seemed to cost twice as much as the 6 cell battery. The back-up life is 1.4-1.8 times longer with 9-cell battery; however, the total working life is about the same (i.e. you will need the replacement about the same time).

right. 90% of the time i use it on AC and only use the battery when i have to scarper when we have guests!

Depends, if you really use your notebook on battery a lot then yes. Don’t think it’s worth the money if you have it via AC power most of the time.

the battery on my dell inspiron 6000 has neared the end of its life. is it worth me getting a 9 cell replacement or is there not much difference to the normal 6 cell?
