assuming the quote is genuine, it still does not accept that alaHazrat's takfir was correct. however he absolves him for his fatwa [the intention]; yet he does not necessarily agree with the fatwa.

    Allah ta'ala knows best.

a search revealed that chanpuri and darbhangvi are one and the same. i asked because murtaza hasan darbhangvi wrote that alaHazrat was correct in making takfir. see here and search for murtaza.

alaHazrat forbade us to answer those who use filthy language. when chandpuri wrote one such [continued by contemporary deobandis - after all is this what is taught in their lofty madrasah?] profane 'refutation'.

alaHazrat writes in abhas e akhirah:
magar janab ke muhazzab `alim e muqaddas mutakallim mawlwi murtaza Hasan sahib devbandi chandpuri ke kamal e shusta o shayista dushnam namey "bareli chup shah giraftar" ki nisbat qaTa'yi mumana`at kardi jiska aaj tak udhar waloN ko iftikhaar hai ke hamara gaali namah laa-jawab raha.

[we wrote a refutation wherever possible] except the totally pure and refined diatribe of your extremely decent scholar and chaste speaker, the scholar murtaza Hasan devbandi chandpuri by name: 'bareli chup shah giraftar'
[*]. i have expressly forbidden [my companions/friends/students] them from answering this obscene screed; people on your side are proud of it to this day that their profanity has remained unanswered.

in other words: we answer anything that merits an answer; and we have no answer for profanity or abuses. we plead no-contest in this department and acknowledge the mastery of the deobandis in this skill.
