as-salamu `alaykum Allah knows best but I have only ever seen "Tahawiyya" divided into a separate school in the literature of Mawdudites and those with similar ideas as them. `Aqida at-Tahawiyya is quoted extensively in both Ash`ari and Maturidi literature. I don't think it is a separate school of doctrine. Allah knows best but there are only two schools of `aqida, Ash`ari and Maturidi. Ma`as-salama Rafiq
You asked for simplest words. Imam Ash'ari and Imam Maturidi are Imams of Kalam/'Aqeeda. Both are followed by the Ahlus Sunnah worldwide. Imam Tahawi wrote the 'Aqeeda Tahawiyah which includes over 100 points of Sunni belief. http://www.sunnah.org/aqida/alashaira6.htm http://www.sunnah.org/history/Scholars/al_maturidi.htm http://mac.abc.se/home/onesr/d/thwi_e.pdf
Assalamu Alaikum. On some other forum, I came across with these three terms: 1. Ashariyah 2. Maturidi (or Marutidi) 3. Tahawiyah They were termed as the basis of ahlu sunnah's aqeedah. Will somebody come up with the explanation and origin in simplest words please? Sorry for my ignorance if this topic has been discussed somewhere on this forum. Many thanks in advance.
