in christendom, the seven sleepers. in khazayin al-irfan, sayyid na'imuddin muradabadi mentions the names of all 7 and that putting the names at the door of a house protects it from fire and placing them on wealth will safeguard from theft. also that they can be used as a ta'wiz for children. he mentions once discovered, they re-entered the cave, went back to sleep and passed away there. baydaroos [i think] was the pious king of the time and he had a masjid built at the cave and people would gather annually to remember the seven. this shows 'urs has been a practice in ummah's past too.
