Though some elements within Sunnis might not directly (or openly) have a grouse with Sheikh Ilyas hafizdhahullaah, the way Dawate Islami works causes them agony and they can't conceal it properly at all times. Yet others voice their opposition openly. Some might have genuine interests of Sunnis/Sunni-ism at hand, regardless if their opposition is justified or not. However, for a lot of them, the reason for this is that Dawate Islami doesn't promote this celebrity maulvi culture, and your common Anwar, Amjad and Tahir bhai's are directly involved in DI's activities. Fame, power, and fan clubs are either non existent or barely minimal in DI if one was to compare and contrast them to the rest of the Sunni groups. I know there's nothing wrong with halwa and chargha too. I was referring to the celebrity maulvis who run shops and fan clubs in the name of Sunni-ism and we have plenty of them, some at key posts too. I have a major problem with their lavish walaayim and "Sunni" gatherings and "Sunni" pretentions (the whole "our Mawled was better than theirs" and "my na'tkhwan recites better" attitudes and the masha Allah group hugs and the overnight wali syndrome that surfaces in their fans) and am not ashamed to voice it, regardless if someone accuses me of being wahabi-ised or not. In fact, I have a problem with their entire system*, not just food. If someone doesn't get my point on that due to their wali syndrome or star studded eyes, I just ignore their accusations of being wahabi-ised. *ie, their attitudes... I'm not passing wahabi style fatawa against what is mubah/mandoob.
Sidi abdalqadir I haven't come across any Sunnis who don't respect hazrat amir e ahle sunnat. If anyone does I'd question their sunnism! which other Sunni jamaat is so practising and fulfills so many sunnahs? I wish hazrat sahib would do a tour of the UK so we could benefit too.
MashaAllah... this sheikh and Dawate Islami are some of the few rays of hope in our times that show how beautiful the Ahlus Sunnah is without the halwa and the chargha and why Ameer Ahle Sunnat and Dawate Islami for all their benefits, cause grief to some "Sunnis".
