same story today. someone posted translation of sanusi creed on resources. i have removed the resources page completely until we review any other such post.
perhaps the copyright violation was just a pretext to get the site down. May Allah ta'ala protect us from the shar of the hasideen and the munafiqeen.
﷽ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُه I sincerely apologies for causing this to happen.
all users are requested to refrain from posting copyrighted material - even if those are islamic books. i generally post links from archive.org or books out of copyright for this very reason. today morning, our hosting provider took down our website because FaqirHaider had posted a book of shaykh buti. and served us a notice through our hosting provider by one mr. samy sawas of greedypubs who had made a DMCA complaint against us. --- for all such people to whom dollars are dearer: at least out of common decency, send us a cease and desist notice - on admin@sunniport.com or my personal mail abu.hasan@ridawipress.org to remove copyrighted material. if we do not comply, you can certainly complain to the DMCA. this is a public forum and anybody can post anything. we cannot stop people from posting; nor are administrators 24/7 watching every thread and every post. we can only remove content when brought to our notice. --- we pray Allah ta'ala to give common benefit to the public by shaykh buti's book and give ample dunya to those who make a living by selling his books. they, whose livelihood depends on selling religious books will not have any consideration if it threatens their bread and butter. now that we have removed the content, i hope some people can sleep well for the few dollars they have potentially saved, and leave us in peace. for shame - these very people were advertising their books on our site: see here and here. and here and here. they advertised their publishing house here: http://sunniport.com/index.php?threads/greedypubs-com-home-of-sunni-publications.3362/ faqir and hammoudeh were given freedom to advertise their publishing house and their forum, even when they were favouring devbandis. i don't mind removing copyrighted material, nor do i care that they make money by selling religious books - it is their choice and none of my business. we also allow people to print and sell ridawipress books for a profit (though we explicitly decline royalties and we do not make a single daaniq) for we understand that it costs money to produce books - but ridawipress books as PDFs are free. [perhaps they may reply: "who cares for your books? shaykh buti's books are saleable, not yours."] instead of resorting to a DMCA takedown, couldn't you have just sent me a mail or a PM? anyway, i wonder what they will do to my upcoming translation of shaykh abdallah sirajuddin's sharh of bayquniyyah. i wonder who owns the 'copyright' to his books. astaghfirullahi'l azeem.
