But Shaykh Faisal could have said that.

Some dont have the courage and some are out to cause mischief.

Sometimes its a bit of both.

If people are that bothered about what certain scholars think of other scholars, go ask them. Yes, I don’t mind if someone asks a genuine question here but it seems people just want other people to do the work for them. E.g.

Why did x sit with y?
Why did x sit with y when y is pally with z?
What does x think about y’s actions?
    Why hasn’t x publicly refuted y yet?

Again, one can ask on here but when we’re not getting anywhere, those that really want to know should attempt to contact the relevant people themselves.

[rant] And, yes, the concerned people are obliged to answer if they are known to be public figures and scholars. If you don’t like to reply, then step down and adopt asceticism. You can’t have your cake and eat it. Either reply to pertinent questions or abdicate.

There are too many scholars these days who love to flaunt themselves as ‘shaykh this’ and ‘imam that’ but don’t have the courage to answer simple questions. [/rant]

Now for my real example. I heard that shaykh faisal said to some murids in Australia, “stay away from barelwis.” So, I’ve tried to get in touch with him. He did reply asking, “where did you hear that?” When I told him, “online” – he hasn’t replied since. But at least I’ve tried to get his clarification.
