much older than 5000, i can tell you that much.

Adam 'alaihis salam just cried for 350 years (give or take) after being sent to earth. Nuh 'alaihis salam's ark floated for 950 years. Ages were very long in those times. christians and jews don't accept our narrations in this regards just as they also don't accept our narrations in regards to physiques being huge too in those days. Sahih Ahadith tell us Adam 'alaihis salam used to be 60 cubits tall and in Jannah the believers will be just as tall. Even the creationist kitaabiyyeen who believe in Adam and Eve ('alaihimus salam) as first humans, buy into the evolution theory (probably because their texts make no such suggestions) that says that human size is only growing progressively and not shrinking.

Read Qasas ul-Ambiyaa for an idea on how long the ages used to be in the times of earlier prophets.

I know that according to the Bible, if understood literally, and as traditionally understood by Christians and Jews, the world is slightly over 5000 years old. What is the traditional Islamic view on this?
