It is not wrong to smile or laugh in Muharram. It is better to abstain from showing unnecessary joy and try to remember the martyrs of Karbala.

It is wrong to espress happiness happiness at the pain and grief afflicted upon those who were martyred at Karbala, then again, so is for others too.

We should rejoice that someone actually stood up for the truth and faced the enemy, Yazid the terrorist, and saved us all from potential corruption.
We should feel happy and express it by holding functions in honour of the martyrs of Karbala and also by making lots of Du'aas and giving in charity for them.

Someone told me not to smile as it was Muharram. That made me laugh.

May God help us all see the truth and not make up things. We should not make difficult what God has made easy for us.

Earlier on today I was listening to a radio show when the Sunni host advised all listeners that it is wrong to display happiness in this blessed month. I've always assumed that this is a myth but this comment really has confused me as the host is a well-versed member of Dawat-e-Islami.

What is the position of A'la Hadrat 'alyhi rahma on this matter??

    Jazakallah
