yes, typical UK young devbandi, I.e. speaks English fluently but no real knowledge but him knowing English is mistaken for ilm.
Zahir is a deobandi, this is well-known in his hometown Birmingham. It is a pity that some "so-called" Sunnis actually unite with people like this! Zahir is an absolutely disgusting man. He insulted the Prophet alay-hi al-salam and despite that he still had the audacity to make excuses and try to defend his qawl. Zahir is a very big threat to the Ahl al-Sunnah as in universities he had a growing fan club which holds events on a regular basis with him.
He's a Deo. There was a clip of his on YouTube where he said something similar to "It is no exaggeration to say that some of the students here were more literate than the Prophet Muhammad Sal Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam." I found this very disrespectful. (This video has been removed I think) Even the Najdis love him because he is a story teller and plays down the 'Sufi-Wahabi thing'. The only reason he is popular is because he is good at story telling (entertainer/clown).
if it is this guy, i think he's a hardcore deo, with more wahabi leanings - http://www.deen-ul-islam.org/lectures/zahir-mahmood/ http://alhikma.co.uk/#/shaykh-zahir-mahmood/4546121020 http://alhikma.co.uk/#/orators/4545782673 (this is a cocktail of deos, wahabis, people like Ninawy, and other confused fools like the ex-murid of keller - suhaib-webb) http://www.kalamullah.com/zahir-mahmood.html (kalamullah is a super-hardcore wahabi site) http://www.kalamullah.com/aqeedah.html (you can find a reference to tafwiyatul iman there. lol i've heard them claim ismail dehlvi was a Sufi, maybe that's why the wahabis love promoting his book) one thing about deos is always funny - no matter how much they claim to be Maturidi Hanafis, and Sufis, they just can't stop craving attention from wahabis
