alaHazrat says in al-Kalimatu'l Mulhima, page 2, that he learnt only the four basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division so that they may help with his obligations. mawlana naqi 'ali then advised his son [alaHazrat] to concentrate on the religious sciences and he will acquire the other sciences automatically. alaHazrat says that from then on, he stayed away from the books of philosophy until he wrote the refutation of the two philosophies. the two main services which rasulAllah sallAllahu 'alaihi wasallam took from him were ifta' and radd al-wahabiya. he also refers to his father as alaHazrat.
