To save you time from designing it, you could use that little booklet dawat e Islamic use and just ask the kids to fill out certain sections that are more relevant etc

Thank you for this. I was actually thinking of how to implement this practically. I like the idea of building emotional intelligence but worry that critiquing might be too harsh especially if they have tried hard. On the other hand, you want them to be able to handle critique and build emotional resilience as well as use feedback effectively to be able to improve. Just need to think of a balanced way to do this.

I also thought of designing some activity sheets focusing on a specific trait or quality (e.g. being generous, kind, helping others) and they could feedback in class about how well they were able to embody or implement this during the week. Rating scale too perhaps?

    Grateful for any further suggestions.

Ar Risalah of Imam Qushayri is a Primer on Tassawuff and available online for free. The problem is that you can't learn the Science or understand it even from Books (generally speaking). As for the person asking for books to teach children, I'd say read the autobiographies of the Awliya to them. Tassawuff is based around punishing the "self" and that involves immense stress on the body and so children may not appreciate or grasp this. Even adults in today's age don't have much idea on what the Science really teaches.

For children, training them in techniques and exercises that are needed for Tassawuff is a better starting point. Examples include, get them to mention achievements of the day and get them to mention 5 or 7 things Allah Has Blessed Them with that they love. This makes them focused on completing objectives and consistency which is a very important lesson Islam teaches. Them saying what they love and recounting Blessings builds gratitude in them. Then you have other soft skills that can be learned and implemented such as teach them to cook under a pressure environment to learn preparation, the importance of measurement, meeting timelines and serving others to name a few. Then critique their food to build emotional intelligence in them. All of these things are real life practical life lessons for kids to grow into important Islamic principles from Shariah. The idea is, when they meet Tests, they better prepared.

Probably anything by Imam Al Haddad, the mujaddid of Yemen.

Specifically the Book of Assistance. Great translation by someone called Mustafa Badawi is available commonly in book shops and online. Easy for the layman such as me to read, etc.

There are also other works such as Good Manners, etc that should be useful
