    Reflections on Bareilly Sharif

In 2008 Al-Sayid Al-Shaykh Jamil bin ‘Arif al-Husayni al-Nabulsi (hafizahullah) travelled to Hind with the help of Mawlana Al-Sayid Abdal bin ‘UbaydAllah al-Hasani and Mawlana Ahmad Ridha al-Kuwari al-Shafi’i, may Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) reward them for their endeavours, to visit the blessed resting place of, Al-Mujaddid Al-Imam Ahmad Ridha Khan (alayhi rahmat Al-Rahman).

What follows is a translation of some of his reflections after his visit to Bareilly Sharif:

In the name of Allah Al-Rahman Al-Rahim

All praise is due to Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) and may peace and salutations be upon the noblest of the prophets and messengers our liege lord Muhammad and upon his family and all his companions.

Indeed Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) conferred upon us a great favour and honoured us when he ordained for us to visit Hind, and it was indeed by a sign from the people of Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) and the call was a hidden one, when the souls of the lovers of the people of Allah stirred and we heard a hidden call from the world of secrets: “make the preparations to visit us if you are from the people of mahabbah”. The yearnings for this journey grew and their souls were calling out “when is your journey to us?” So we answered their call, that we have prepared the journey to yourselves to stand at your thresholds, and the yearnings increased within us. And Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) prepared the means and his mercy was completed upon us when he gathered us with these Aqtab (spiritual poles from amongst the saints) (“Say, Upon Allah’s munificence and upon His mercy - upon these should the people rejoice; that is better than all their wealth and possessions.”) [Surah Al-Yunus, Verse 58, Kanz ul Iman translation].

And we were ecstatic and overjoyed when we reached that house of knowledge, filled with goodness and delight in the city of Bareilly, May Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) shower her with protection and illuminate her.And our gathering was with a luminary from the luminaries of Islam and a pillar from the pillars of this religion, the towering luminary and great mountain of knowledge, the defender of the truth and the religion, protector of the sunnah of the liege lord of the first and the last, Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam), propagator of the Aqidah of the people of truth and defender of the great illuminaries, the imams of our religious community, Taj al Shari’ah, the pride of Islam and the muslims, the grandson of Shaykh al-Islam Ahmad Ridha Khan (alayhi rahmat al-Rahman).

So we were called to his prescence and we gathered with his beloved ones, so it was a moment of intense joy and pleasure, and we were overjoyed by this gathering. And Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) bestowed upon us his acceptance and approval by the blessings of our master Al-Imam Ahmad Ridha Khan (alayhi rahmat al-Rahman) and his grandson, so Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) honoured us by them.So how joyful were those moments and it was as though the tongue of the spiritual state said, “the approval of our master Al-Imam Ahmad Ridha Khan (alayhi rahmat al-Rahman) is complete, therefore O my son favour this one who has loved us and come to us with the signs of the approval of Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) upon him, with ijazah, in honour and reverence of this son of ours, that he may achieve from our chain of transmission and our spiritual line blessings from our Lord (tabaraka wa t’ala) and gifts from the secrets of our Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam).

So,All praise is to Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) and it is from his favours that our master Taj al-Shari’ah, the pride of Islam, Muhammad Akhtar (hafizahullah) became pleased with us, and I will never forget how beautifully the ijazah was completed nor will I forget the blessings of our master Taj al-Shari’ah upon us and what we witnessed from the beloved around him, and how Bareilly was the centre point for the ‘ulama from every distant place. And I will never forget the complete love of our master Taj al-Shari’ah for whoever was on the creed of the people of Truth.

So Allah had already gathered us in the world of the souls and all praise is to Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) that he had gathered us in the world of forms, and it was a hidden call from the people of Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala) “visit us and find happiness and goodness” and to Allah (subhanahu wa t’ala), Lord of all the worlds, belongs all praise.

The poor slave of Allah Jamil bin ‘Arif bin Jamil, Al-Husaini in lineage, Al-Nabulsi in homeland, Al-Ash’ari in belief, Al-Shafi’i in mazhab, Al-Naqshbani Al-Qadri in tariqah.

I was fortunate enough to meet the honorable Shaykh at my uncle’s place where a small tea-party had been hosted for him. He was very down-to-earth, amicable and eager to share his knowledge with us.He blessed me with special prayers and whereas everyone present recieved as tabarruk eatables from which he’d partaken, he specially offered me his cup of tea!

This is a small snippet from the gathering.

    Wassalaam.

    Event : Tahaffuz-e-Aqaid-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat Conference.

    Venue: Bhiwandi, Mumbai-Maharashtra, India.

Keynoter: Shaykh Jameel Al-Husayni An-Nablusi Naqshbandi (Daamat Barakaat)

    Translator: Mawlana Ahmed Raza.

Other speakers: Mufti Muhammad Aqib Kharbe Qadiri , Mufti Jamal
    Aleemi.

Vibrant, energrtic, eloquent, captivating, graceful and modest, in short, Shaykh Jameel owns a charming personality befitting a Sayyid. A warm smile adorns his resplendent face as the Shaykh sermons the masses into enthrallment and ‘faith-full’ delights.

He hails from Madinat-ul-Khaleel, Nablus in Palestine and traces his noble lineage back to Imam Jafar As-Saadiq(Alaihissalaam), a lineage which has on it Imam Jalaluddeen Suyuti (rahimahullah)’s stamp of authentication. His ancestors have held, for about three centuries, the office of the Mutawalli of the sacred precincts, which are the resting place of sayyidina Ibraheem, Sayyidina Ishaac, Sayyida Sarah and several Anbiyaa (Alaihimussalaam).

His disdain for the nefarious Wahabi creed and his love for the Awliya and respect for Imam Ahmed Rida Khan (Rahimahullah) can all be gleaned from this sermon he delivered at the conference yesternight.

It’s a real faith-refreshing treat, especially for those who can understand Arabic. I have also attached the addresses by other speakers. 1,2.

Though I've converted it to mp4, the audio quality remains passable, apologies.
