Whatever riwayah there maybe from the different scholars in the school we follow the zaahir alriwayah and the muftaa bihi. Unlike those who give fatwa against the muftaa bihi. The author of Lubab states the number is undefined in the zaahir alriwayah of the school, but he does say that the witnessing of two men or one and two men is acceptable in our times because people are lazy in sighting the moon. Another opinion of imam Abu Yusuf suggests 500. Will we take that. Check Lubab for that and many other hanafi books.
@Imran_khan, IMAM Abu Yusuf (Radi Allahu Anhu) made Qiyas upon Qasamah and for this reason used 50 as a large amount of people. I don't understand @Imran_khan, do you feel the Qiyas is wrong? Also, brother if you don't mind please refer to scholars in the correct manner, it is not the way of Ahl al-Sunnah to disregard the position of scholars Allah has bestowed upon them.
