"but that is all maslahah. you won't understand it. just let it go." --- gone are the times when ulama took a stand - and they took a stand because people looked up to them. they emulated them. if ulama were comfortable with some person, it meant that the aalim approves of him. besides, our ulama were so upright that shady folk would fear to go near them. ulama had reputations and they knew that it was necessary for them to behave in public because the public watched their moves and their actions would indicate permissibility. now ulama attend every gathering - and they do not even make their stance clear. shaykh asrar was heavily criticised for voicing dissent in a certain gathering where one of the aqtab brothers had showed up. perhaps therefore, shaykh asrar has stopped taking a public stand. after all - one gets slammed for anything one does. when he spoke against false sufis and the khurafat going on in our communities, people tried to hush him up. and now, that he doesn't speak against anyone - it is troubling some people. it is difficult to please everyone. there are some others who are busy with their individual pursuits - and are careful not to step on other people's toes. they do not wish to get embroiled in controversies. --- only the pariahs - keyboard warriors - will keep making noises, even though their voice doesn't carry any farther than the forum. and nobody cares for their opinion. wa billahi't tawfiq.

what is going on? why are our sunni ulama still inviting eesa khan naushahi to event when his an open supporter of Irfan Shah mashadi? On the other hand NMJM cancelled the burdah due to Hafiz asad ali & co interacting with adam kelwick and various other reasons but we see shaykh asrar openly support these young scholars, so what is going on?
