for the sake of argument, let us take the proof tahir gives about RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam about jews celebrating aashuraa. there are many ilal on using this hadith as proof for his mendacity, but i will not talk about that for the moment.

a) did he go to the jews and celebrate it with them?
b) did he call the jews and celebrate it with them?
c) did he ask the jews to come to our masjid and pray according to their own 'tradition'?
d) did he congratulate them on their celebration?
e) did he celebrate aashura like the jews do on passover? (so why light candles and cakes and sing carols on christmas?)

in fact, when he fasted on the 10th, and was told that the jews also fast on that day - he said, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam - that he would fast on the 9th the following year if he stayed on earth (an indication that he had chosen to go to his Lord) to oppose the jews.

this instructs us to maintain our identity and not do tashabbuh; otherwise, according to tahir, tashabbuh of the 'people of the book' does not amount to shucks.

Christmas is not a mawlid according to Christians. For them it is the birth of the son of God not the birth of a Prophet.

Simply the wrong analogy and a classic example of how to cover one wrong numerous other wrongs are entered into. He needs to cut his losses and shut up before he gets lumbered with numerous fatwas.

Pir Sultan Fiaz ul Hasan Sahib have refuted Dr Tahir Minhaji on TV yesterday. Even though he went their, he did say he was rather forced by some people in his organisation. Pir Sahib have been spoken to, they said they were disgusted with the program and what happened their was wrong. He felt ashamed that he was their. He said that he has warned all in his organisation that Dr Tahir Minhaji's name should not be mentioned from now on, on Takbeer TV. Also nothing of his will be relayed on the channel until he doesn't repent and doesn't do Tajdeed e Iman openly because of that conference.

Pir Sahib will also refute him in the annual Urs Sharif gathering tomorrow of Hazrat Sultan Bahu RA.

Yea it would be good if he repented of all his errors and became a Sunni again as he could be of good service to Sunnis as he is a good public speaker but his track record does not give hope.
As for judging a popular Tv star by the public reaction to him it is silly because most people in all countries from the masses are stupid and easily misled by media. Sadly it's even more true when a large proportion are uneducated or illiterate as in parts of Indopak. But even in the UK the average Joe is thick and believes whatever the TV or papers tell him or her. I know it sounds horribly elitist but I strongly believe it's true. In any society the cream naturally rises to the top. That's why the idea of universal suffrage is flawed and why charlatans like Dr Tahir can fool people so easily. Give them circuses and games and the masses are happy! Where does Tahir get the money from to support his jetsetting lifestyle ?

 

Do'nt know about Pakistan but in India (at least in my State) TuQ is still held in high esteem. Only people from SDI/DI and those VERY close to the ulama are aware of those of his stances that are not aired by Qtv. For the general public he's some sort of a Masaiah healing the bruises inflicted by years of wahabi propaganda. I remember when his Daura-Bukhari was being telecast on Qtv people were urging each-other to watch it. I myself was one of them.* Even today, if some wahabi comes up with a video, indicting him, people cringe at first, then dismiss it altogether. So naturally, ulama are cautious and don't criticize him from the pulpit. And if they ever speak against him it is considered as simple 'ikhtelaf' where non-ulama should keep quiet. Not that there are'nt other competent ulama but he's considered to be from the same group. It remains to be seen how people will react in this case as it's not yet out in the public, Qtv being down for sometime now.

Can a brother or sister please explain what 'shirk' is involved in this conference? so that all those who visit are clear, as to what we mean.

 

My teacher 'Allamah Shaykh Mufti Ashfaaq Ahmad Rizwi hafizahullahu Ta'ala has said that it was not permissible and that it was a form of calling towards shirk al iyaadhu billahi Ta'ala

We need our scholars to speak out openly against this type of behaviour. Open and declared kaafirs being allowed to sing their religious songs from the stage of a so called Sunni organisation is despicable. Would any Muslim allow a Hindu into their home and let them chant Hare Rama and Om??? Even in private when no one else is able to be influenced, we would never do this. The fact a so called Scholar/Shaykh allows this on stage where everyone is able to see and no doubt his followers are easily influenced is outrageous and undoubtedly walking towards the path of shirk. Worse still was that Pir Fiaz ul Hasan, Pir Amin ul Hasanat and others just stood there and watched and participated in the event. What kind of Pirs are they standing idly by when any Muslim worth his salt would have walked out in disgust?

People and increasingly so called Sunnis have made it fashionable to criticise 'Barelwi' beliefs as strict and not applicable to modern society etc etc. The fools don't understand that the 'Barelwi' aqeedah as espoused by A'la Hazrat (Blessings Be On Him) is a synonym of Sunni aqeedah which when you leave you end up doing what Tahir ul Qadri and his organisation are doing.
